With the implementation of the new curriculum reform,the drawbacks of traditional education concepts are becoming more and more obvious.The new educational concept has been promoted by a majority of educators.The new educational concept requires teachers to be "people-oriented" in the teaching process and respect the students’ subject status in the classroom teaching.In the process of teaching,teachers should clarify their role orientation and guide students in participating in classroom learning through appropriate teaching methods and means.In respect of English learning,English reading makes up half of it.In the process of English teaching,how to strengthen the English reading level of students becomes a topic which current English teachers are concerned about.What is more,the improvement of students’ English reading ability is of great significance to the improvement of English teaching quality and students’ comprehensive ability to use English.And the key to improving students’ English reading ability lies in how to establish an effective English teaching classroom.In English classroom teaching,English teachers should clearly understand their roles,playing different roles in different reading genres.Through appropriate teaching methods and means,teachers will enable students to actively participate in English reading and learning,and at the same time,students can find the correct learning method under the teachers’ guidance.Eventually,the learning efficiency can be further improved,thus eventually achieving the teaching objectives.Based on the Role Theory and the Theory of Meditation,this thesis proposes a teaching model of teachers’ multi-roles in English reading teaching,analyzes the roles of English teachers in classroom teaching,and provides different teaching methods for teachers.Taking Chongqing Kaizhou middle school as an example,the paper implements the classroom teaching mode of teacher’s multi-roles positioning in one regular class of senior one,and the other class carry on the common English teaching methods.By using SPSS software to analyze the results of the contrast classes and theexperimental classes,it is found that the results of the classes with diversified teaching mode are significantly higher than those of the contrast classes.Finally,in view of the problems existing in the current English reading teaching and the roles of English teachers in reading teaching,the thesis proposes corresponding measures to improve students’ English reading ability,hoping to offer some reference opinions to educators concerned.
