A Study On The Narrative Strategy Of "Female-oriented" Youth Films

In recent years,the new trend of "female to" films has sprung up in the female consumption market,and women have gradually become the absolute main force of film industry consumption in the Chinese film market.High box office,good reputation of "women to" youth films emerge one after another,which has become the focus of the current Chinese film industry.Since 2010,there are many excellent film texts adapted from the literary works or network novels of female writers in the Mainland Youth films,and operated by the new generation of female directors.Taking female roles as the main narrative perspective of youth films,the film focuses on the use of fine brushwork to express the unique emotional experience of women.In this paper,two "female to" youth films,directed by Zhao Wei in 2013 and adapted from the novel of the same name by Xin Yiwu,an online writer,and "later we",directed by Liu Ruoying in 2018,and two "male to" youth films,directed by Han Han Han in 2017 and "Charlotte's troubles" produced by Kaixin Mahua,are selected as comparison.This paper explores the different narratives of "male oriented" youth films and "female oriented" youth films brought about by gender differences,including the different narratives of film narrative strategies from story elements to narrative content,the multi variance differences from narrative structure to discourse,and the different characteristics of narrative time and space and narrative aesthetics established by films.There are obvious differences between "female oriented" youth films and "male oriented" youth films in portraying the characters,plots and narrative themes of men and women.The former embodies the real tragedy and youth pain experience of women's complete farewell to youth,and the emotional expression of women's self sorrow and self pity,while the latter expresses the fantasy comedy of old boys' return to youth The carnival trip reveals the male narcissistic and self satisfied complex.In narrative discourse,through the comparison of male and female different gender discourse to create a rich image of young characters,women based on the narrative protagonist to give women a special group of emotional attention and unique discourse expression.In the film narrative structure,based on the grasp of the nostalgic theme,the directors of both sexes have used the double space-time narrative in the structural design to build a multi-level nostalgic space of youth,using the contrast between reality and the old time to express the different memories of youth of the directors of both sexes.The space construction of youth films focuses on urban,campus and family space,showing the space position and existing relationship between men and women under the real social curtain brought by gender differences.In the artistic expression of image modeling and audio-visual language,female directors use a wealth of symbolic props and image expression to show the emotional experience and artistic aesthetic characteristics more accepted by female audiences,and echo the connotation characteristics of youth theme through the modeling of light,shadow and sound.This paper attempts to use the theory of narratology to clarify the characterization of the commonness and individuality in the films of "male orientation" and "female orientation",to interpret the characteristics of the narrative techniques and speech language of the youth films directed by female directors,and to explore the gender discourse differences and gender order in the contemporary social background.
