In Chinese modem-novel history, Ailing Zhang must be the most arrogant and unique female writer. Her literary taste and life pursuit were greatly different from the current trend of thought in literature. And she did not even want to conceal any of such an antagonistic relationship. For example, in "Concerned Music" she definitely expressed the opposition to "heroic and orthodox ideological pursuit" and "clear and sharp universal ideology". That was the reasons why she turned to a day-to-day world full of traditions, customs, and profound human touches. She disliked the shape comparison between extreme red and green for she said "heroic matters only possess power and lack beauty and human nature". To that, she preferred the lively match of pink and light green. Instead of heroes and supermen, her writings focused on "the numerous shoulders of the time"---ordinary people. She thought the "high and steep flying" in life could not last forever, while " steady steps" was exactly the life's core and origin. Despite the elegant and refined literary taste, Ailing Zhang favored the popular literature, and chattered about another vulgar self. Such a different thought of literary creation indicates Zhang's unique outlook on life and pursuit of life. It was this realistic and individualistic literary pursuit to gaze at life from human nature and humanity that made Zhang an unparalleled female writer. My thesis will discuss Zhang's feminism in literature in the following three fields.First, departing from May-fourth writing formula of women writers, she created a special writing way to observe and perceive the female characters and their oppressed fate in the patriarchal male-oriented society from a unique female angle, which reveals her original power of perception and deep care about women's existence state. This point is supported by the following three aspects:(l)She cast off both physical and mental burdens fettered on women by the male-oriented culture, which enabled her to go deep into the women's inside world from a perceptive angle and express their feelings and thoughts. (2)In her writings, she portrayed all kinds of female characters, with whom she not only examined the patriarchal male-oriented society, but also sympathized on the women's life tragedy. (3) She definitely and firmly defended her female st咖 and stonglyreslsted the misunderstanding and distortion of*thetion female cMacters咖erher pen. This Indicates that Zhang hM not the Infenor mind for being s叩ervlsed咖ace叩ted.
