Su Manshu is a famous poet, writer and translator in modern China and he has made great contributions to the sino-foreign cultural exchanges. He is fascinated by English Romantic Literature and admires Byron very much.He is the first one in China to trans late and introduce Byron systematically to the public. He regards Byron as his teacher and calls himself "Byron of China".He is deeply influenced by Byron in life and literary writing. This paper will study Su Manshu's acceptance of Byron according to the reception theory and cultural filters, mainly includ ing three aspects: facts of acceptance, manifestation of acceptance and deviations in acceptance. After combing Su Manshu's life and his acceptance of Byron, this paper finds that Su Manshu admires Byron and learns from Byron sincerely because of the influence of times and their s imilar b irth, childhoods, character and literary taste.Su Manshu's acceptance of Byron includes two aspects: literary concept and literary writing.Poets are divided into three groups by Su Manshu: "spiritual poet","national poet" and " imperial clan poet".His favorite group is "spiritual poet" represented by Byron. The author compares the characteristics of the poems written by three groups of poets.According to Su manshu's literary concept and aesthetic standard,it can be found that Su Manshu prefers the theory of presentation because of Byron's influence.Su Manshu acceptance of Byron in literary writing is mainly reflected in common characteristics of their works. For example, they like to write the theme of love and freedom, and their works have strong subjective consciousness. However, there is an inevitable deviation in the process of literary acceptance, which is also reflected in Su manshu's writing.Due to the different social environments, religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds, cultural filters play a role in Su manshu's acceptance of byron. The deviation of acceptance is mainly manifested in three aspects: first,Su Manshu can't insist on the pursuit of freedom in life and literary writing, and he is evasive and compromised both in his mind and behaviour;second,Su Manshu shows a strong pessimistic spirit in life and literary writing;third,Su Manshu uses a literary form d ifferent from Byron's poetry when translating Byron's poetry.
