This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of a 10000-word excerpt themed with Byron's European reception, which consists of the fifteenth chapter of Cambridge Companion to Byron and the tenth chapter of the Reception of Byron in Europe respectively. With Nida's functional equivalence theory as its guiding theory, this report attaches great importance to analyzing typical translation examples contained in this translation project, from three aspects of intertextual references, parallel structures and realization of sentence relation. And the purpose of this report is to put forward solutions that may help produce an adequate and readable target text. This report is divided into five sections. It firstly describes the translation project, including the background and significance of the translation task. And it then goes on to elaborate pre-translations,including text analysis, translation resource collection and functional equivalence translation theory. The third section analyzes some typical translation examples taken from the translation project in question and the author's translation decisions from the perspective of functional equivalence. The fourth section briefly discusses issues about the post-translation.Finally,this report concludes with a brief summary of what has been learnt from the translation project.
