Research Of The Villains In American Superhero Movies

In recent years,with the globalization and the improvement of computer technology,Superhero movies,which are based on the similar structures,diverse characters and incredible visual wonders,have already become a genre of movie and a cultural phenomenon that worth our attention.It is one of the supporters of American culture and features of the times.Since most of the Superhero movies are limited to the simplicity of themes and duality between good and evil,the villain becomes an essential factor in the story.It is one of the prerequisites in ‘The Hero’s Journey’.However,the villain in superhero movies is now lack of attention.Also,compared to American Superhero movies,many Chinese movies and TV series which are about the military and wars have some problems when shaping villains.As a result,this article will treat the villain in superhero movies as a major part and independent factor and conclude function of these characters and the rules of making a villain and hope it can inspire Chinese movies.The article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is about the definition of villain and the origin of them,The second chapter mainly adopts the methods of literature research,history research and cases studies to analyses the feature and tendency of villain’s changes in superhero movies.The third chapter is about the ways of how to create and describe the villains.Also,combining with theories like Comparative mythology,Sauaaure’s narration theory and the theory of ‘the Other’,the research analyses the methods of shaping villains as the origin of conflicts,the metaphor of policy and the visual wonders.At the same time,wish the methods and rules in villain making that happened in American superhero movies can be a example to nowadays Chinese movies,especially some movies that still have the problems in shaping villain to the same and confusions in narration.
