Henry Purcell was the founder of English opera in the 17 th century.His appearance made English vocal music have a place in Europe.Compared with classical opera,semi opera is unknown,and even many music researchers do not know its existence.In Purcell's short life,he created a variety of different forms of music,including a highly integrated art —— semi-opera.Although semi opera has been ignored now,it has become the most popular opera in Britain for a century.Among them,the semi-opera <The Indian queen> created in Purcell's late period was then One of the most popular semi-operas,the semi opera is still performed in foreign theaters,and it is appraised as "Ancient Music Concerto" by later generations.This paper is a detailed study of Purcell's vocal music songs in the semi-opera <The Indian queen>,aiming to provide an effective text basis for domestic researchers to further study the music in the semi-opera in the future.Purcell wrote high-level songs in the play,including solo,duet and chorus,with harmonious melody,precise musical structure and foil musical nature.This paper analyzes the structure,content,style and singing skills of the three vocal works in the semi-opera to further explain the characteristics of the vocal songs in the semi opera ——<The Indian queen>.This paper consists of introduction,conclusion and three chapters.The introduction describes the basis,significance and research status at home and abroad.The first chapter gives a preliminary introduction to Purcell and semi-opera.Considering that <The Indian queen> is a relatively unpopular work with a long plot,the author first introduces the story outline in order in the second chapter,so that readers can better understand when reading the following vocal works,and then analyzes three vocal songs in <The Indian queen> in detail.The third chapter is the thinking and Prospect of semi opera.The author rationally reflects on the status quo of semi opera and discusses the future application prospect of semi opera from a long-term perspective.The last chapter is the conclusion chapter,which summarizes the whole paper.
