A Practice Report On The Simulated Interpretation Of WWDC 2019

Based on the 2019 Apple Worldwide Developers' Conference as simulated interpretation material,this practice report introduces the process of the simulated practice in detail and evaluates its quality,covering three stages: pre-interpreting preparation,interpreting process and post-interpreting reflection.The processing of information plays a significant role in the quality and efficiency of simultaneous interpretation while the redundancy in source language will undoubtedly increase the effort faced by interpreters.Qualified interpreters should be able to analyze the redundancy in source language,and use appropriate strategies while interpreting,so that they can effectively reduce unnecessary redundancy and maximize communicative effect.On the basis of Gile's Effort Model,the Principle of minimum fidelity,and other researchers' studies,this practice report concludes some strategies to cope with redundancy in source language: ellipsis,generalizing,amplification,and explains the application by analyzing the author's practice examples.Besides,the author reflects on problems such as lack of proficiency in skill use,insufficient ability of listening and distinguishing.The author hopes that the discussion can help to deal with the redundancy in source language appropriately in the future practice of E-C simultaneous interpretation,as well as to refine expression and improve the efficiency and quality.It is hoped that it can also provide experiences for interpreting learners and their practice.
