On The Technique Of Retaining White

As an important technique of landscape painting,"blank space" has been used and studied by painters of all ages.In traditional Chinese landscape paintings,landscape artists have a full expression of the use of white space.If a painter wants to express his ideas,it is necessary to use white space to create artistic conception for his works.This paper expounds the importance of white space in landscape painting creation through its historical origin,white space and composition,the embodiment of techniques of white space and the reflection and application in his own creation.The first part of the article expounds the concept of white space,and analyzes the influence of Chinese geography,traditional philosophy and painting materials.In the second part,the author mainly analyzes the influence of blank space in landscape painting composition,which includes creating artistic conception and mastering rhythm.The third part puts forward several techniques of landscape painting,which can be divided into "stay","squeeze","dye","hook","draw" and "sweep",and demonstrates the specific application of several techniques of landscape painting,as well as the mutual application of multiple techniques of white space in the same picture.The fourth part mainly analyzes the inheritance and innovation of white-space technique in modern Shangshui paintings.The fifth part combines the author's understanding of white-space technique in landscape painting copying,sketching and creation,explores the important significance of "white-space" technique for my creation guidance,and USES various techniques of white-space to guide my creation and the combination of theoretical practice.On the one hand,this paper intends to comb and supplement on the basis of previous predecessors' painstaking research,and strive to showthe artistic characteristics of "blank space" in Chinese landscape painting more completely,so that people can truly discover the beauty of blank space in landscape painting.Hope,on the other hand,through carding,analysis,summarize and study "stay white" in Chinese landscape painting techniques,allows the author to in the future of traditional Chinese painting creation and theoretical knowledge can let the author get more inspiration in art creation and theory study and draw lessons from,guide and inspire more people at the same time in learning,practice in the inheritance and development of contemporary art of claborate-style painting better.
