Classroom as an important part of school construction, its acoustic environment directly affects teaching activities and the quality of the school education.English-immersed teaching model has become an important direction of education reform in Chinese universities. However, there is little research on the influence of classroom acoustic environment on Chinese students' learning in English languag environment, which is worth further study. In this paper,a typical classroom in Xiamen campus of Huaqiao university is selected to carry out acoustic experiments to research the impact of reverberation time(RT)and noises on English listening comprehension of Chinese college students, and on these basis,to explore the effects of individual factors on the experimental results. The main research includes:(1)Experiment 1 studies the influence of RT(0.56 s,0.80 s,1.12s)on English listening comprehension of Chinese college students in quiet and traffic noise environments.Among them,RT=0.56 s meets the requirement of American classroom standard(ANSI S12.60-2010),RT=0.80 s meets the requirement of Chinese classroom standard(GB 50118-2010),while RT=1.12 s exceeds the domestic and foreign classroom standards.(2)Experiment 2(under RT=1.12s)researches different kinds of noise(babble noise, fan noise, construction noise)and different sound pressure level(45dB(A),50dB(A),55dB(A))on Chinese college students' English listening comprehension, and compare the results of these three types of noise.(3)Based on the results of experiment 1 and 2,the influence of individual factors(English level and noise sensitivity)on subjective perception of classroom acoustic under different RT and noise environments are analyzed. The results show that:(1)in the quiet and traffic noise environments, the pariticipants' English listening efficiency(including accuracy rates and subjective evaluations)at RT = 1.12 s is the worst. While the RT of the existing classrooms more than 1.10 s are common phenomenon, indicating that the RT of the classrooms need to be improved and to meet the Chinese standard of classroom acoustics.Meanwhile, only when the traffic noise at 50dB(A),the participants' objective and subjective performance in different RT environments are significantly different, indicating that the traffic noise at 50dB(A)has a great impact on participants.(2)Participants' listening efficiency decrease significantly with the increase of noise level, indicating that noise level has a significant adverse effect on participants, and it is necessary to control the classroom noise level. In addition, among the three noise sources, construction noise has the greatest impact on participants.(3)For the personal factors, participants with low English level have poor subjective evaluations of classroom acoustics under different RT environments(especially for RT= 0.56 s and 0.80s);participants' subjective evaluations under different noise environments are little affected by their own English proficiency. For the noise sensitivity, there are no obvious regulatity in the subjective evaluations of classroom acoustics in different RT and noise environments.
