An Experimental Phonetic Study Of The "Ye" Sentences In Modern Chinese

"Ye" is a high-frequency adverb in modern Chinese,with various usages.This article adopts the research method of experimental phonetics,using PRAAT software as the main tool,and taking 11 types of 280 "ye" sentences as the research object.It describes and analyzes the prosodic features of "ye" and the focus distribution of "ye" sentences.Some views on the "Ye" and "Ye" sentences are re-recognized based on the experimental results.The analysis of the prosodic features of "Ye" reveals the phonological characteristics of "Ye" in the speech flow: the duration is about 50% to 80% of the average duration of all syllables,and the pitch is higher than the average pitch of all syllables.The tone of "Ye" in the speech stream shows the diversity of soft sounds in the disyllable words.There are four types: ascending,descending,rising-falling,falling-rising.The tone domain of "Ye" is not directly related to the tone type.The tone type has no functional meaning,but the tone type is related to the subjectivity of the speaker.The perception of light and stress in "Ye" in the flow of speech is not only related to the duration and tonality,but also to the tone domain.When the tonal range is similar,the soft sound level of "Ye" is descending tone> descending tone> rising tone> rising tone.The experiment determines the focus of the "Ye" sentence according to the focus-stress theory,and analyzes the focus distribution of the "Ye" sentence.It is found that the focus in the "Ye" sentence is mainly distributed in three positions: before "Ye",after "Ye" ",and" Ye "itself.This is mainly a "Ye" comparison framework and the speaker's reverse focus operation strategy at work.But while the focus distributions of different types of "Ye" sentences have similarities,they also show obvious personality.This is because,although different types of "Ye" sentences are based on the "Ye" contrast frame,each type of "Ye" sentence has its own unique structure,such as the position and type of the contrast item and similar items in the frame,whether there is a focus mark,etc.,and according to different "Ye" sentences,speakers can adopt different focus operation strategies.These factors lead to the commonality and personality of the focus distribution of various "Ye" sentences.The experimental phonetic research results of "ye" sentences in modern Chinese have certain enlightening significance to the ontology research and teaching research of "ye" sentences.As far as the ontology research of "Ye" is concerned,the rhythmic research and focus research of "Ye" have revealed that "Ye" rereading has the effect of expressing the subjectivity of the speaker.The similarities and differences between various types of "Ye" sentences are related to the position and type of the contrast items specified in the comparison framework of various "Ye" sentences.As far as the teaching research of "Ye" is concerned,the "Ye" sentence with simple focus distribution should be taught first.
