Chinese Verbs Move From Hand To Body Semantic Evolution Research

The meaning of hand movement has been a hot topic of research,and the research results are also emerging in an endless stream.In recent years,scholars have not only explored the meanings and categories of hand movements,but also explored hand movements from new perspectives such as cognitive linguistics.Through the diachronic investigation of Chinese hand movement words,we find that the Chinese hand movement words not only have the development and evolution to the psychology and speech domain,but also have the semantic evolution of “hand movement > whole body movement”.In the introduction,we discuss the basic situation of hand movement word research,and summarize the main direction of hand movement meaning research.This paper analyzes and summarizes the research results of the development and evolution of “hand movement > whole body movement”,and on this basis,puts forward the research content,research significance,research theory and research method of this paper.In the second chapter,the author makes a diachronic investigation of the verbs that have experienced the development and evolution from the meaning of hand action to the meaning of whole body action,and concludes the semantic evolution path of the Chinese verb“hand action >whole body action”.I will discuss these Chinese verbs in terms of ancient,middle and modern times.We select 11 verbs whose original meanings are the development of the meaning of hand movement and the meaning of whole body movement,such as 挺、投、探、扛、掷、扭、撒、摔、挨、挤、扑 to explore the process and law of the semantic evolution.In the third chapter,we try to analyze and explain the semantic evolution of Chinese verbs from hand movements to body movements.First of all,the author divides the development and evolution process ofhand movement words into four categories: hand movement meaning >“stretch meaning” 、“throw and rush meaning” 、“swing meaning” and“squeeze meaning”,and further explains the characteristics and reasons of these four types of evolution.Secondly,we systematically investigate the mechanism and motivation behind the semantic evolution of ">whole-body movements of hand movements".We believe that in the semantic evolution of "> whole-body movements of hand movements",the subjective metaphorical metonymy,the close relationship between various parts of the human body and the syntactic position all play an important role in its semantic evolution.
