With the gradual establishment and continuous improvement of the three-level curriculum system,many schools have developed their own courses with the basis of their own needs and actual conditions in order to establish their characteristics.School-based textbooks play a very important role in the development of school-based curricula for they reflect the specific content of the curriculum and are the significant way to implement the curriculum.According to the existing research,the research results of English school-based textbooks development are quite abundant,but they mainly focus on vocational colleges,universities and compulsory education stage,and few on senior high school stage.Therefore,this paper attempts to start with the development of English school-based textbook Better Your Spoken English of S School in Changsha,and put forward some superficial suggestions on the development of English school-based textbooks for senior high schools.This paper consists of the introduction,two main chapters and the conclusion.The first part,the introduction,introduces the background,the significance,the core concepts,along with literature review on school-based curricula,school-based textbooks and school-based textbooks development at home and abroad.The second part is the research and analysis of the development of the English school-based textbook Better Your Spoken English,summarizing the experience and deficiencies worthy of reference and analyzing the reasons for the deficiency.It can be found that the development is based on students' need,highlights school's educational idea and emphasizes the highquality of textbooks.Finally,some suggestions are put forward:emphasizing the diversity of the main body of school-based textbooks development,such as school managers,students,parents;selecting content with the principles of suitability,aborinigality,modernity and motivating interest;improving the evaluation index system and emphasizing the diversity of subjects,contents and methods,etc.
