Recently,formative evaluation is being given much attention.Real-time class evaluation,an important way of formative evaluation,can monitor the procedure of teaching and learning correctly,which is quite effective for students and teachers to find out problems and advantages.English class in primary school usually gives priority to listening and speaking,and real-time class evaluation plays an vital role in the process of listening and speaking.Based on teacher’s assessments of their students’ output language in terms of semantics,tone,speed and phonetics,students can adjust their own learning methods and schedule.By this kind of evaluation,teacher is able to realize students’ needs and appropriately adapts teaching methods to suit their actual levels.And eventually,the teaching and learning aims are likely to be achieved with the help of real-time class evaluation.Still,practical problems persist,for example,when to evaluate students’ class performance,what to evaluate them and how to evaluate.All of that might have negative impact on the effects of teaching and learning.By means of the observation and analysis of this evaluation,I come up with some effective solutions,which provides my primary English teaching with practical instructions.My paper consists of six parts.Part I is about an introduction of the research work.This part is composed of the background,meanings and methods of research.Part II talks about an overview of the real-time classroom evaluation.This part includes theories that are related to this evaluation,such as the meaning,principals,functions and types.In Part III,these is a description of the present implementation about real-time classroom evaluation and an analysis of the problems that exist in the process of real-time evaluation.This part is on the basis of the document research,classroom observation,interviews with teachers and specific class cases.As for part IV,it is an explanation of the reasons that cause the evaluation problems.This part explains the reasons of evaluation problems from the perspective of time,ways and contents.And in last part,it revolves around an elaboration of the feasible solutions with respect to real-time evaluation.The solutions in this part closely link with the problems and its reasons in previous section.
