A Study On The Influence Of Russian Formalist Literary Theory On Contemporary Chinese Avant-garde Literature

Russian formalism literature criticism originated from the early twentieth century is one of the most influential theories at that time.It has a profound influence on future literary theory and literature creation,although it exists for a short time.Russian formalism literature criticism aims at establishing an independent literature.Its literary concept firstly defines the essence of literature.It emphasizes on style,liberating literature from imitation theory and expression theory which becomes an independent subject then.As a theory,formalism towards to disintegrate in 1930 s,but its theory view directly affects many theories later,such as,new criticism,structuralism,narratology and other schools of literature.It is vital to force western literary theories development.A variety of western literary theories are flooding into China in 1980 s with the deepening of the opening-up and reform policy,which brings vigor to the development of contemporary literature criticism and literature creation.The self-disciplined view of literature put forward by Russian formalist literary theory is the first to break the very close relationship between Chinese contemporary literature and politics and changes the single political ideology of literary creators and researchers,and promotes literature to gradually get rid of the bondage of instrumentalism and return to aesthetic art itself.The emphasis of Russian formalist literary theory on "form" also enriches contemporary literature creation methods,and provids new ideas and directions for the development of Chinese literature after the 1980 s.Under the influence of Russian formalist literary theory,contemporary writers,represented by avant-garde literature,insists on the principle of self-discipline in literary creation,pursues the independence of literature,and emphasizes the form and language of literature,conducts a revolution of language and form in literary creation.However,at the turn of the century,literature and art inevitably become commercialization with the further promotion of economic globalization and market economy.The formalism that advocates literature self-discipline gradually is not adapted to the society.In addition,the study of Russian formalism gradually declines,vanguard writers also transformes one after another.Although there are many limitations in Russian formalism,it has freed literature from the bondage of instrumentalism and achieved the breakthrough of aesthetic modernity.This paper consists of four parts.The introduction part makes a systematic analysis of the research status of Russian formalism,clarifies the research object,and expounds the research methods and significance.In the first chapter illustrates the basic ideas and literary theory of Russian formalism context and the connection between the British and American new criticism structuralism narrative in the second chapter is the theory how to influence China's literary and arts especially the pioneer writer's creation,and illustrates the transformation of vanguard literature in the ninety s is not to form experiment of negation,but in a new art form,the generalization in the third chapter discusses the contribution of Russian formalism literary theory in China and limitations,and pointed out the direction for the development of the theory in the future.
