English writing ability,as one of the important language skills,is not only an key point of the examination content,but also a main tool for students to communicate in English.Writing has always been a difficult and tough point in English teaching.The traditional writing teaching is time-consuming,inefficient and boring,and there are some typical problems such as teaching activities are lack of interaction,and the students are lack of interest,so it's difficult for students to improve writing ability.With the advent of information-based teaching environment,it is of practical significance to solve the difficult problems in writing teaching by means of combining information technology with the characteristics of writing teaching.This study explores if the online and offline blended learning of English writing based on the smart teaching tool Rain Classroom can improve the students' writing interest and writing level in senior high school.This study focuses on the following three issues:(1)Can the application of blended learning based on Rain Classroom in senior high school English writing teaching enhance students' interest in learning writing?(2)Can the application of blended learning based on Rain Classroom in senior high school English writing teaching improve students' English writing achievement?(3)What are the specific advantages of blended learning based on Rain Classroom compared with the traditional classroom teaching in English writing ?The study expounds the literature review and theoretical basis related to blended learning and English writing teaching.The study adopts the method of combining qualitative research with quantitative research,taking 104 students from two classes of a key high school in Harbin as the research objects for a one-semester teaching experiment.Data are collected by means of writing test,questionnaire survey and interview,then the results were analyzed and summarized.The results show that: first of all,after a semester of teaching experiments,the hybrid learning of English writing based on Rain Classroom in senior high school conforms to the characteristics of contemporary students' individualized learning,andenhances students' interest in learning writing.Secondly,through the analysis of the scores in the before-test and post-test,it is found that the practice of hybrid learning of English writing based on Rain Classroom helps students improve their writing achievement to a certain extent.The study also finds that,compared with the traditional teaching,the teaching resources of hybrid learning of English writing based on the Rain Classroom in senior high school are more abundant,and the open ask-and-answer forms,such as barrage speech and mutual evaluation of contributions,can expand students' thinking and arouse the enthusiasm of students to participate in the interactive activities in the writing class.In addition,the teaching data feedback based on the Rain Classroom in the writing class changes "experience drive" of the traditional teaching into "data drive" of the modern teaching,scientifically optimizing the teaching effect.This study explores the teaching effects of blended learning in senior high school English writing teaching by using the Rain Classroom as the teaching tool in the context of information technology,and it has some reference value.However,there are some limitations in this study,such as short experimental period and small sample size,which need to be improved in future studies.
