| Since the 1980s,with the rapid development of cognitive science and the maturity of cognitive linguistics,cognitive context has attracted people’s attention.Based on the theory of cognitive context,this paper designs some vocabulary teaching activities,and verifies the effectiveness of vocabulary teaching based on cognitive context through experiments,trying to provide some suggestions for senior high school English teachers in terms of vocabulary teaching.This research mainly uses the methods of questionnaire,interview and experiment to investigate 14 English teachers in Baotou Jiuzhong Foreign Language School about their vocabulary teaching concepts and vocabulary teaching situation.Secondly,the author designed many vocabulary teaching activities based on the three models of cognitive context and high school English teaching syllabus and materials to provide references for English teachers in senior high schools.In addition,the author carried out a controlled experiment in two classes of grade one to test the effectiveness of these teaching activities by comparing the vocabulary text scores.It is found that teachers are all in favor of teaching vocabulary in context which can improve the efficiency of vocabulary teaching.But the author finds that teachers show more situational and cultural context of the words,and seldom use cognitive context vocabulary teaching strategies in the actual teaching,such as semantic network and semantic field.Through a-semester teaching experiment,the author finds that teaching vocabulary in cognitive context can really attract students’ attention,help students memorize,understand and apply English vocabulary better.Students can clearly distinguish the different occasions of vocabulary use,which greatly improves the efficiency of vocabulary learning.On the basis of this study,the author tries to put forward some specific suggestions from the aspects of teachers’ vocabulary teaching concept and classroom vocabulary teaching design,aiming to optimize English vocabulary teaching and improve teacher’s teaching ability. |
