In Song Dynasty, there was a flourishing trend of raising dogs, and there were many kinds of dogs, and the Luojiang dogs produced in Shu were famous all over the country. The dog trade is more developed, and the price varies greatly due to the size, age and breed.Since Song Dynasty,Xiangquan Shu tended to decline, and Xiangquan persons almost disappeared.Song Dynasty inherited the system of Tang Dynasty, the central government set up Wufang,Among them, the Goufang was specially responsible for raising dogs needed by the emperor's hunting, which was unstable with the changes of the emperor hunting. At the same time,on the basis of inheriting the previous generation's laws and regulations, the Song government formulated relevant laws and regulations on stealing and killing dogs, dogs killing human beings and animals, and dog skins trading.Dogs played an important role in the social life of the Song people, and were widely used in home guarding, entertainment life, hunting activities, military wars, diet and medicine, etc.Especially the home guarding had outstanding functions and the trend of keeping pet dogs and Zouquan was also very popular.Dogs have special uses in hunting and military war, mainly engaged in various tasks such as catching, tracking, searching and guarding. In the Song Dynasty, the dog-eating trend tended to decline, and the dog-eating population was confined to the lower classes.Dog meat had withdrawn from the Song people's dining table, thus forming the customs of "dog meat can not be served on the table".People in Song Dynasty knew the dog's medical value extremely, and summarized a large number of medical prescriptions for the treatment of dog diseases and dog bites, which promoted the development of medicine in Song Dynasty. The dog culture of Song Dynasty inherited the previous dog culture and showed its own characteristics of the times. The poems and proverbs related to dogs in Song Dynasty are extremely rich, and mainly including pastoral, political and satirical content, which reflects the Song people's different attitudes towards dogs.Canine paintings are also quite diverse, involving pastoral life, hunting and entertainment, and gods and ghosts, etc. The Xiquan has become one of the main dog breeds in the painting of painters. The dog appeared as the image of "Tiangou" in astronomy, and the Song people inherited the predecessors' view and regarded it as a precursor of military disaster, which caused the panic of the people and the great attention of the ruling class. The status of dogs in the sacrifice gradually declined, and the dogs as the Gengxian ritual were abolished, and the sacrifice of Cugou in the Southern Song Dynasty became the sacrifice of Caolong. The role and image of dogs in the customs of ethnic minorities are embodied in many aspects, such as major festivals, eating habits, transportation, sacrifice for diseases and totem worship, which reflects the unique national cultural atmosphere.Affected by the confluence of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism, and the secularization of Buddhism and Taoism, the stories of dogs in Song Dynasty presents the Confucian ethics of loyalty and filial piety and the concept of karma and reincarnation of Buddhism and Taoism, with a strong persuasion and preaching thought. The images of dogs in the folk beliefs show the characteristics of both disaster and fortune, which are embodied in the aspects of the vision, dream omen and ghost dispelling of dogs and so on,which leads to the Song people's concept of disaster and fortune and dream omen. The sacredness of dogs in Song Dynasty has not subsided, which is deeply reflected in the myths and legends of dogs and the birth of Xiaotianquan.
