Archaeological Research On The Settlement Of Diaolongbei Site In Zaoyang

Diaolongbei site is a large well-preserved settlement site in the Yangshao period.Up to now,the relics such as tombs,housing sites,cellar pits and sacrificial pits in different periods have been found.A large number of pottery,stone implements,bone implements,clam ware and other tools for production and living have been unearthed.And the middle reaches of Hanshui river where the site is located,the passage linking the Central Plain and Jianghan Plain since the Yangshao culture period,is an important area for research on archaeological cultural exchanges.The paper first sorted out the archaeological discovery and research overview of Diaolongbei site-the material source for the later analysis and research,probed into the natural and geographical environment of Diaolongbei site,and subdivided Diaolongbei site into three phrases and four sections according to the report.Secondly,on the basis of stage division,the paper analyzed the settlement forms and spatial distribution patterns of Diaolongbei site in different periods to understand the production and living of people in the settlements in every phrase,and comprehensively investigated the changes of social organization structure in different periods.At last,the paper analyzed the sites around Diaolongbei site in the same period,established the age framework of every site,probed into the relationship between the site and surrounding sites and concluded that the development of settlements in the middle reaches of Hanshui river during the Yangshao culture period can be divided into two phrases.In the first phrase,the settlements was related to the early southward expansion of Yangshao culture.The settlements were small settlements,and there was no hierarchical differentiation in the settlements and among the settlements.In the second phrase,two independent archaeological cultures-the Zhujiatai culture in the north and the third phrase culture of Diaolongbei in the south were formed in the middle reaches of Hanshui river.With the social organization structure changing,and there was certain degree of hierarchical differentiation in the settlements and among the settlements.
