The Study On The Aspect Marking System Of Pingqiao Dialect In Xinyang

Xinyang City is located in the southernmost part of Henan Province.Xinyang dialect belongs to Xinbeng sub-cluster of Zhongyuan Mandarin area.At present,there is few grammacal investigations on the Xinyang dialect.The research object of this thesis is aspect marker system of the Pingqiao dialect,and the corpus mainly comes from Pingchang Town and Minggang Town,Gushi County,Xin County,Xinyang City.On the basis of field investigation,this thesis collects a large number of speech material,makes a thorough investigation on the aspect marker system of the Pingqiao dialect,and tries to make a detailed description and analysis of the aspect marker system of the Pingqiao dialect by comparing this dialect with Mandarin and dialects from other counties and towns.First of all,based on the analysis of the data collected and the previous research results,this thesis preliminarily concludes that there are two types of aspect markers in the Pingqiao dialect,which are complete aspect markers and incomplete aspect markers.The former one includes the perfect aspect,the realized aspect,the experienced aspect,the short-term aspect and the attempted aspect,while the latter one includes the progressive aspect,the continuous aspect and the starting aspect.Secondly,it describes and analyzes the individual markers of Pingqiao dialect,Among them,the characteristics with the dialect-specific are described in detail.Through the corpus analysis,we can see that the aspect marker system of the Pingqiao dialect can be expressed not only by grammatical means,but also by lexical means.There are two forms of grammatical means:addition and verb overlapping.For example,the perfect aspect and the realized aspect are expressed by adding the"Le(?)"to sentence final or after the verb,and the experiential aspect is expressed by adding"Guo(?)"or"Lai(?)"after the verb.Both the trial aspect and the short aspect can be expressed by overlapping verbs.The lexical means is mainly manifested in the short-term aspect and the attempted aspect,with"next(??)"and"next(???)"appended after the verb,and"here(???)and"there(???)"appended before the verb in the progressive aspect marker.Finally,in order to highlight the characteristics of the aspect marking system of the Pingchang dialect,it is compared with that of the Minggang dialect,the Gushi dialect and the Xinxian dialect,and the similarities and differences between them are found out.
