After the end of the Russo-Japanese War,Japan and Russia quickly achieved reconciliation in a short period of time, which is really rare in the history of international relations. After the defeat of Russia,it faced severe domestic and foreign situations and could only seek to maintain the status quo in the Far East.Although the victory of the war greatly improved Japan’s international status,Japan also paid a huge economic price. Therefore, both Japan and Russia have to readjust their bilateral relations.Under the coordination between Britain and France,Japan and Russia divided the northeast of China into two spheres of influence in the north and south through the First Japan-Russia Agreement, laying the tone for Japan-Russia relations. While restoring political relations,Japan and Russia also rebuilt bilateral trade relations and reached a certain consensus on the fishery issue. The reconstruction of political and economic relations means that Japan and Russia have taken the first step towards the normalization of bilateral relations.Since then,Japan has stepped up its aggression against the southern part of northeastern China. The United States was quite dissatisfied with it and then proposed a "Manchurian"railway neutralization plan.In the face of the "Manchurian" offensive launched by the United States,Japan and Russia cooperated again and signed the "Second Japan-Russia Agreement" in 1910.So far,Japan and Russia have completed the final stage of normalization of relations.Because the previous two agreements did not divide Japan’s sphere of influence in Inner Mongolia,Japan and Russia were eyeing this.Taking advantage of China’s outbreak of the Revolution of 1911 and unstable border areas,Japan and Russia expanded their sphere of influence from "Manchuria" to "Manchuria" in the Third Japan-Russia Agreement. The First World War brought new development to Japan-Russia relations.Russia has insufficient reserves before the war and urgently needs to form an alliance with Japan to obtain more large-scale weapons assistance. However, due to the continuous cooling of Japan-UK relations,Japan is afraid of being isolated by the "all white" group after the war.So the two countries formally established an alliance relationship, which marked the final formation of the Japan-Russia cooperation model. The four Japan-Russia agreements have had a major impact.Through four Japanese-Russian agreements,Russia has safeguarded its special interests in Northeast Asia and Mongolia and relieved its worries, thus focusing its energy on the increasingly complex European international situation.Japan has improved its international status and expanded its sphere of influence in China several times. In addition, the large supply of arms to Russia during World War I also brought huge economic benefits to Japan, and Japan has since changed from a pre-war debtor country to a creditor country. However, the cooperation between Japan and Russia is based on sacrificing China’s sovereignty and interests. The sphere of influence delineated by the two countries extends from northeast to Inner Mongolia, and finally expands to the entire China, severely destroying the territorial integrity of China. However, the cooperative relationship between Japan and Russia is not as friendly as it seems on the surface, and the two countries’ mutual suspicions and vigilance against the dark tide surge. The four cooperations between Japan and Russia are based on the common interests of the two countries in Northeast China and Mongolia, thus dividing the sphere of influence several times and continuously deepening cooperation. However, after Japan and Russia jointly resolved the external threats, the suspicions of the two sides that were temporarily suppressed will quickly rise, alerting each other to launch a new war.
