Study On The Chivalrous Spirit In Fan Cuiting’s Dramas

The research object of this paper is Fan Cuiting’s “chivalrous” dramas.In the light of combing and studying the concept of chivalry,this paper redefines its connotation and denotation.Both Fan Cuiting and his works have a chivalrous spirit that cannot be ignored.What’s more,Fan Cuiting’s chivalrous dramas are inextricably related to influence of the spirit of the May Fourth and New Culture Movement and the background of the Anti-Japanese War.This paper sorts out 13 works in line with the chivalrous concept from Fan Cuiting’s Collection,and analyzes and studies them from the angles of chivalrous spirit,knight-errant theme,characteristics of the times,modern awareness and so on.This paper is consisted of five parts.In the first chapter.In accordance with researching and studying the chivalrous theme by a great number of previous scholars,this part redefines the chivalrous connotation from the perspectives of social level,moral level and chivalrous theme.In the second chapter.This part studies the life experience,character,hobbies and writing tendency of the playwright Fan Cuiting,and probes into the internal causes of his creation of chivalrous dramas.In the third chapter,influence of the spirit of the May Fourth and New Culture Movement on Fan Cuiting’s creation of chivalrous dramas,the concept of modernity and Western dramas are studied.Moreover,influence on the content and emotional tendency of Fan Cuiting’s works under the background of Japanese invasion of China are also studied,so as to objectively judge his artistic position.In the fourth chapter,knight-errant theme of the chivalrous characters in Fan Cuiting’s chivalrous dramas is studied,and the purpose and core of chivalrous spirit of the chivalrous characters are explored through the analysis of knight-errant theme of the chivalrous dramas.In the fifth chapter makes a special study on Fan Cuiting’s chivalrous drama,and it makes a detailed analysis of the specific chivalrous image based on drama creation’s time sequence,tries to use drama theory and aesthetic views to discuss the drama,and analyzes era’s spirit,national characteristics and modern awareness of Fan Cuiting’s chivalrous dramas from art theory and aesthetic acceptance.In the end,the advantages and limitations of the drama are analyzed and evaluated.
