Research On Divorce And Remarriage Of Woman In The Yuan Dynasty

In the yuan dynasty,women’s divorce and remarriage were not only influenced by the marriage custom culture in the central plains,but also integrated with the unique marriage tradition of the northern minorities,forming the system of women’s divorce and remarriage in the Mongolian and han dynasties.The first chapter is about the main types of women’s divorce.According to the status of husband and wife,the behavior of both parties and the etiquette and so on,summed up the yuan dynasty women divorce types.The second chapter is about the property of divorced women.This paper discusses the limited economic rights of divorced women in yuan dynasty and the management and control of divorced women’s property in yuan dynasty.The third chapter is the reason of women’s remarriage and the attitude of yuan dynasty towards remarriage.From the three aspects of economy,ideology and social atmosphere,this paper analyzes the reasons for the widespread remarriage of women in yuan dynasty.And the impact of Mongolian marriage custom and the influence of neo-confucianism were not enough to determine that the yuan court held an attitude of not advocating and forbidding the remarriage of ordinary women.Chapter four is the condition of women’s remarriage.This paper expounds the forms of rational remarriage and prohibition of remarriage of divorced women in yuan dynasty and the right of women to choose not to remarry for life.
