Approaching Liaison Interpreting From The Prospective Of Language-Game

Intercultural exchanges are getting more and more frequent and there are greater demands for interpreters.Liaison interpreting is one of the most widely used forms of interpreting.However,the study on the theories of liaison interpreting is lagging behind the study on other interpreting or translating studies.This author tries to analyze liaison interpreting and its characteristics from the prospective of language-game,a theory put forward by Wittgenstein.Despite being a theory in the field of philosophy,language-game can shed some light on the study of liaison interpreting.The author explores the interpreter' role in liaison interpreting by examining the subjectivity of the interpreter,explains the application of the language-game theory in liaison interpreting from the integrity of the game,the use of samples and anticipation and reviews liaison interpretation from the multiplicity,instrumentality and purposiveness of the language-game.The author hopes that the paper is able to present liaison interpreting and its features in a new light and help liaison interpreters in further building their subjectivity awareness and thus improve their performance when interpreting.
