Study Of Li Zishu's The Years Of Remembrance

Born in Ipoh,Malaysia,in 1971,Malaysian-Chinese writer Li Zishu has been writing for more than 20 years.In 1995,she won the first novel prize of Hua Zong Literary Award for the short story Write Her into a Novel.The Years of Remembrance is Li Zishu's first and only full-length novel,which won the Malaysian-Chinese literature prize of the 11th Hua Zong Literary Award after its publication.It is of great significance to the barren world of Malaysian-Chinese literature.The novel describes the family stories of the Chinese in Malaysia in a complicated way,showing the unique style of Malaysia,and with its exquisite narrative structure to shape a word maze,with strong artistic effect.Therefore,this paper will use the method of close reading of the text to conduct a comprehensive study of the novel The Years of Remembrance,mainly analyzing the theme of the novel,as well as the character image,special images,and exploring the narrative art of the novel.The paper is divided into five parts:First is the introduction,which summarizes and sorts out the existing research results of Li Zishu's works.and explains the origin and significance of this thesis.The first chapter to explore the theme of novel,first to The Years of Remembrance antithesis,then from the story of two realistic respectively discusses the theme of the novel,Du Lian story's theme of "awakening and growth",and "you" the story of the theme of "imagination and looking for",fully grasp the connotation of the core of the whole workThe second chapter is the analysis of characters.Due to the unique narrative structure of the novel,there are a large number of distinctive characters in it,which are of great significance to the development of the story.Therefore,this chapter is divided into three parts such as male character,female character and neutral character for specific analysisThe third chapter mainly analyzes the special image in the novel.The Mayflower hotel in the dark corner of Sibu,the durian with Malaysian characteristics and the mysterious mad man are recurring images in the novel,which have metaphorical and symbolic meanings.This part will discuss these images in detail.The fourth chapter is an analysis of the narrative characteristics of The Years of Remembrance.It first clarifies the logical relations among the three narrative layers of the novel,then discusses the use of the post-modern narrative strategies of"meta-fiction" and "forged-paratext" in the novel,and summarizes the significance of them.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the achievements and styles of Li Zishu's novel The Years of Remembrance.
