Readers' Participation In Literary Awards Since The New Period

In 1978,"People's Literature" held the first national selection of excellent short stories.The enthusiastic participation of the whole country became the beginning of various national literature awards in the new period.Many subsequent awards,such as the Fifth "Lu Xun Literature Award",the Sixth "Mao Dun Literature Award","Hua Cheng Literature Award","Jing Dong Literature Award",all have readers'participation.The "Hundred Flowers Award" even puts the power of selection into the hands of readers,and completely relies on readers to vote.However,for many years,the academic circles have not paid enough attention to the phenomenon of readers' participation in literary awards,and there have been few related studies.This paper reviews the literary awards activities in the new period from the perspective of readers'participation,observes the occurrence and evolution of the phenomenon,analyzes its penetration in the principles of awards,writers' creation and expert aesthetics in the development of the times.In this way,we examine the special significance and value of literary awards with readers' participation compared with official awards.The introduction part,by reviewing the reasons why readers' discourses are valued and readers' participation in literary awards,explains the basis and significance of this paper,and collate the research situation of the current academic circles,defines the main concept of "mass and reader" involved in this paper.In the first chapter,briefly discuss the origin of readers' participation in literary awards.After the end of the Cultural Revolution,with the development of the ideological emancipation movement,the political situation was relaxed and the literary environment was "recovering",which laid the foundation for nationwide literary awards.As the creator of history and the "most authoritative assessor" of literary activities,"mass" began to receive official attention.The second chapter focuses on the official literary awards,periodical literary awards,and online voting since the new century,analyzes the similarities and differences between readers' interest and expert aesthetics presented in the same awards and their underlying reasons.The third chapter analyzes the effect of readers' interest.By comparing the differences readers' choices and experts'aesthetics at the same period,it is believed that readers' choices will not only give pressure to expert selection,but also be induced by the official in a subtle way.From the perspective of influence on writers,readers' participation in awards not only becomes a writer's creative incentive,supports and nurtures newcomers,but also brings certain limitations to the writer's creation.The fourth chapter explores the contemporary Chinese literature field with the participation of readers.As an actor occupying a certain position in the literary field,readers' participation in awards is an important part of literary production,circulation and consumption,and participates in the construction of contemporary literary classics.However,there are still phenomena that despise or even block readers' voices.How to properly view and guide readers to participate in literary awards requires the joint efforts of many parties.The conclusion part analyzes the far-reaching significance of readers'participation in literary awards,including writers,readers themselves and the entire literary world.We believe that the current literary awards not only impact the original order of awards,but also give readers more possibilities to participate.
