Chen Baichen,as a famous dramatist in modern China,has particularly outstanding achievements in comedy.He has made great contributions to the development of Chinese comedy,especially the development of political satire comedy.His comedy keeps up with the changes of the times and maintains a close connection with politics.He pays attention to social development and the real life of the people.His sharp and deep comedy performance style is unique in the history of modern Chinese drama.Both the content and the expression methods have a profound impact on the development of Chinese comedy.By analyzing the unique historical value and artistic value of Chen Baichen's comedy,it not only has important historical significance for grasping Chinese modern comedy,but also has important enlightenment to the problems faced by the development of today's comedy.This article is divided into three chapters except for the introduction and conclusion.The first chapter discusses the times and politics of Chen Baichen's comedy.This chapter mainly discusses the comedy works of Chen Baichen during the Left Alliance,the Anti-Japanese War and the early period of the Liberation War,analyzes the development of modern Chinese comedy and the production of Chen Baichen's comedy in each period,and concludes that Chen Baichen's comedy creation is consistent with the development of Chinese modern comedy.During the Left League period,Chen Baichen's comedy showed a strong revolutionary and fighting nature.During the Anti-Japanese War,he showed the spirit of anti-Japanese salvation.On the eve of the Liberation War,he demonstrated democratic liberation.He used the form of comedy to express major social realities.Chen Baichen enriched the content of comedy creation,expanded the meaning of comedy,and promoted the development of comedy,especially made an outstanding contribution to the development of satire comedy.The second chapter analyzes the description of social reality in Chen Baichen's comedy.Chen Baichen's creation is rooted in reality,and shows the social status by describing the lives of people of different classes.He is concerned about the poor lives of small intellectuals and the shortcomings that exist in them.He unrelentingly exposes a group of middle-and upper-class people who live in the back of the battle.He also described the lives of women in different periods and different social statuses,showing concern for the independence and emancipation of individual women.What is particularly valuable is that he has always stood with the broad masses of the people.In his comedy,he describes the lives of the displaced and the oppressed under the war.Chen Baichen's attention to people in his comedy shows his pursuit of freedom and romance,permeating the connotation of humanism.The third chapter analyzes the artistic characteristics of Chen Baichen's comedy.He is good at setting up comedy conflict,nationalization,life-oriented and characterized comedy language with unique characteristics,which is popular among the audience.At the same time,he also created a group of comedy characters with distinct characters:poor and ridiculous little intellectuals;ugly and funny,traitors and corrupt officials with strong negative colors;and vivid and three-dimensional female characters.He introduced the color of tragedy into comedy,which generally showed bright and gentle,sharp and spicy style characteristics.The conclusion explores the problems faced by comedy today and its future development.With the development of the market economy,current comedies are facing "decline",and there are various problems such as vulgar content and superficiality.By analyzing Chen Baichen's comedy,he tries to find a solution to the problems of today's comedy and promote the further development of comedy.
