With the rapid growth of internet in the 21 century,the technicalization of mobile phone is exerting its influence on every aspect of our life.The advancement of technology not only brings new techniques and new experience,but also weakens our affective experience,leading to an increasing need of emotional satisfaction from products.In this case,the personalized mobile theme with a people-oriented design meets our needs for emotionalization and personalization in mobile interface,among which icons have the greatest effect on usage experience because they are taken as a medium for the interaction between mobile functions and users.Despite the current trend of personalization and emotionalization,there are still some deficiencies in the design of theme icon,such as ambiguous presentation of thematic meanings,low-resolution of icons and mismatch for users’ expectations.To solve these problems,this project analyzes in detail the possible application of the emotional memory theory in psychology to the design of personalized theme icon,as well as the purpose and significance of using this theory,taking personalized mobile theme icons as an example.Then,some guiding theories and suggestions for improvement are provided with respect to the low-resolution of theme icons and unsatisfactory emotion presentation.Moreover,a new method of theme icon design is developed based on the analysis,summary and conclusion of emotion-memory-oriented theme icon design.Finally,some advice for the improvement and supplement are listed regarding the mobile theme icon design.A personalized theme icon for the generation born after 90’s was designed based on the method described above.To make a comparison with similar theme icons in app market,we also designed an experiment from two aspects,usability and users’ emotion experience,to further verify the scientificity and effectiveness of our method.In the experiment of user’s psychological cognition usability,a psychological test software E-prime 2.0 was adopted to record and analyze users’ recognition time and accuracy rate,then the USE subjective scale was used to conduct a user evaluation of usability.In terms of emotion experience degree,an eye-tracking movement paradigm was applied to measure the change of pupil diameter and the SAM emotion scale rating chart was used to collect data,which would be transformed into the Arousal-Valence emotion model to depict the performances of experiment and control group.At last,after the normalization processing of both subjective and objective data from two aspects,our analysis found that the theme icon design based on emotion memory helped to fill in the gaps of usability and emotion experience of current mobile phones.
