In the process of musical expression,intonation is a relative concept.Because of the different genres of music style,the actual interval between each tone is different as well.Intonation is barely bound up with study of temperament.Circle-of-fifths system,just intonation,twelve-tone equal temperament these three kinds of systems are the most representative intonation systems,which have many obvious differences and contradictions among them.Chinese bamboo flute is an instrument with fixed pitch.However,a skilled player can change the pitch with breathe and the labial muscles.In order to understand the contradictions of the three kinds of intonation systems,and then resolve them in the bamboo flute performance,we must clearly recognize the differences between the three kinds of intonation systems.This article introduces the basic principles of the three intonation systems,the pitch control technology of the bamboo flute performance,and the use of the intonation system in the actual performance of the traditional six-hole bamboo flute.As a result,these three intonation systems can be flexibly used by players,and achieve relatively accurate pitch and style.
