The War of Resistance Against Japan is an important part of the mode:m history of China.Nanjing Massacre is one of the events during this period which has achieved the most extensive attention of international community.Since the end of World War II,researches and controversies on the history of Nanjing Massacre have never been ceased.Because the number of survivors is small,and the search work will cost a lot of time and be of high difficulties,the written materials and videos left by the foreigners who remained in Nanjing during Nanjing Massacre have become vital evidence to restore this history,which will also add a sense of responsibility for this translation task.Historical material is a special kind of informative text.Its linguistic form embodies different author styles and characteristics of the times.Moreover,it will take a lot of time and effort to accomplish the textual research of the content of the historical text.Therefore,it is necessary to make higher requirements to translator accomplishment in order to maintain the accuracy and integrity of historical information during translation.Translator is one of the elements throughout the whole process of translation.Knowing all kinds of translation theories and methods cannot ensure the quality of translation.Therefore,it is required to improve translator accomplishment,and fundamentally shape a better translator.At present,rare researches on translator accomplishment by combining translation practice have been completed.Thus,this study could not only enrich the research in this field,but also help translators realize self-improvement,and then more high quality translation will be completed in the future.Four chapters constitute the text of this thesis.Chapter One includes the introduction of the translation project,and the purpose and significance of this topic research.Chapter Two explains the definition and connotation of translator accomplishment.Chapter Three analyzes the reflection of translator accomplishment during this translation of historical material through three phases of translation,and selects terminology and reference as two typical issues to analyze.Chapter Four is a summary of findings and personal gains,as well as an objective analysis of limitations of the study.
