Salomé is Oscar Wilde's most crucial tragedy work and also the most representative masterpiece of his artistic style. As an Irishman,Wilde created Salomé in French,a nonnative language, which became an avant-garde and bold experiment in the history of British drama.Salomé was also regarded as Wilde's pioneer experimental play. But French is not the only memorable feature of the play. The holy past of the Bible has formed a huge contrast with the erotic hints with foreign customs and the monstrous necrophilia in the drama, which shocked the conservative British theatre in the 19 th century and challenged the dogmatic ethics and morality prevailing in the society at that time.Erotic flirtation and moderate threat of violence make Salomé complete its mission of subverting traditional moral concepts. However, when we strip off the coat of extravagance and corruption in Salomé,is what Wilde left us only a pure and empty skeleton? In the virtual world of literature built up by his pure idea of "art for art",is there any other strong support besides aestheticism? The author believes that violence is the invisible "support".So,where is violence embodied in Salomé? Why is this violence hard to be perceived? How is violence "hidden" after being artistic? What is the significance of Wilde's violence writing? This article will take Salomé as the main analysis object,Wilde's personal life and creation as the auxiliary analysis material, and the close reading of the text as the basic research method, and analyze the expression, generation and significance of violence writing from two dimensions of drama works and author's creation. This dissertation will be divided into the following parts:The introduction is divided into three parts, which will introduce the reason, significance and the research situation of Salomé at home and abroad. The first chapter mainly analyzes the violence in the dramatic plot. The first section will analyze the language violence in the drama, starting from the dialogue between the characters, and analyze the male to female violence implied in the drama plot and the female to male resistance. The second section focuses on the analysis of the physical violence in the drama, that is,the hidden gender violence is analyzed from the two drama elements of "gaze" and "the dance of the seven veils".Chapter two mainly analyzes the strategies of violence writing in Salomé.The first section starts from the artistic way of beautifying violence, analyzes the language, characters and plots in drama,so as to clarify the beautifying and guiding role of aestheticism in violence writing. The second section starts from the opposite direction of beautifying violence, analyzes how the violence writing in the drama came into being, and expounds that this reverse and deviant writing is the strong evidence that Wilde tries to contend with the Victorian mainstream cultural tradition.Chapter three will analyze the origin of violence writing in Salomé.First, the basic concepts and evolution of violence are sorted out,and then the relationship between violence and literature is established. Then through the analysis of the original Bible, the origin and necessity of violence writing in Salomé are expounded. Finally,it will analyze the social background, the author's background and the drama background of Salomé,so as to clarify the deep reason of violence writing.Chapter four mainly expounds the significance of violence writing in Salomé.The first section mainly expounds its influence on literature, and analyzes the impact of Salomé's violence writing on Victorian morality and literary tradition from the perspective of drama, and then leads to the discussion of poetic justice. The second section focuses on the reconstruction significance of violence writing to modern tragedy.
