Wang Shuo,a writer who emerged during the social transformation in the 1980 s,he has 12 novels adapted into 13 films, and Wang Shuo himself has 10 movies as screenwriters. He has become one of the mainland writers whose literary works have been adapted to a large number so far.Wang Shuo's novels and adapted films co-exist and prosper, and the narrative strategy also has similarities and differences in themes and forms. In this thesis, through careful study of Wang Shuo's novels and appreciation of the film adaptation, the research perspective is placed in the field of narratology. The narrative strategy of adapting the novel to the film is analyzed through two narratological aspects, the narrative theme and the narrative discourse. The narrative features reconstructed between the two artistic texts, from the overall grasp of the method of film narrative translation and writing of novel narratives,as well as the gains and losses of Wang Shuo's novel adaptations,I hope it can contribute to the study of film adaptation. The thesis is divided into six parts. The introduction discusses the research background and purpose of this paper,as well as the research status and innovations,as well as the theoretical methods used in the research. The second chapter outlines the process and premise of the adaptation of Wang Shuo's novels.First, sort out the history of WangShuo's novels being adapted, and then explore the reasons why Wang Shuo's novels have been adapted into movies many times. They are summarized into two reasons: lensed narrative techniques and colloquial narrative language. The third chapter discusses the reconstruction of the narrative theme of the film adaptation of Wang Shuo's novels. This chapter divides the adaptation of the narrative theme into two forms of change: reinforcement and transfer. The following are the pursuit of splendid youth, the deconstruction of traditional authority and the return of the mainstream consciousness of "Father,Son and Filial Piety".It is also concluded that there are two main themes in Wang Shuo's novels.Confession shifts from good to depraved from evil. The fourth chapter explores the reconstruction of the narrative discourse of the film adaptation of Wang Shuo's novels. This chapter combines the examples of Wang Shuo 's novels and adapted films from the perspective of characters, plots, and perspectives. It compares the different manifestations of the three narrative discourses in the original and the film.It is believed that the adaptor appropriately increases the characteristics and number of characters in the original work and the plots,Delete and transform to convey the narrative theme, through reasonable adjustment of the narrative perspective to present the narrative effect. The fifth chapter is an examination of the gains and losses of the adaptation of Wang Shuo's novels and films. On the one hand, the adaptation of Wang Shuo 's novelsis successful, which broadens the living space of writers and works, and realizes the two-way exchange and reference of the two arts of novels and films, and also promotes the economic growth of the film industry;on the other hand, the adaptation of Wang Shuo 's novels The shortcomings restrict the audience's aesthetic imagination and weaken the theme depth of the work.Based on the research of Wang Shuo's novel adaptation film,he reflects on China's adaptation career and makes suggestions for the adaptation culture. The conclusion part summarizes the full text and gives a good prospect for the development of the adaptation career.
