Translation For International Communication From An Intercultural Perspective

Abstract/Summary:
In recent years.China receives increasing attention worldwide as it rises in overall competence."Telling China’s stories and conveying China’s voice" and constructing an international discourse is a major challenge the country faces in this new era.The concepts that represent contemporary China’s policy and core ideas need to be translated well for they play important roles in China’s international communication.Due to social,historical.and political factors,people from different cultural backgrounds may have different understandings for some expressions.Theref’ore,it is necessary to study translation from an intercultural perspective.This paper selects five contemporary Chinese concepts from the Library for Standardized Translations of Major Chinese Political Vocabulary to study the influence of cultural factorsThese notions include“一带一路”as a major initiative in China’s international communication "命运共同体" as the vision for global development of China."中国梦”as a guidance for national rejuvenation,“小康社会”as a major target of development."计划生育" as a former basic state policy.These concepts are analyzed by their sociocultural features in international communication in order to summarize the strategies in translation for better penetrationThis paper provides suggestions for strategies of translation including the connotation in textual features,deverbalization from source text,awareness of sociocultural dimensions,and international cooperation.These conclusions provide suggestions for China’s translation for international communication,and shows that an intercultural perspective can provide effective guidance.
