Lao She is a famous writer in China’s current history. There are also a lot of literary studies on Lao She,but Lao She’s translation career is rarely known. It is undeniable that Lao She’s translation career also played a significant role in Lao She’s research.Lao She translated about 200,000 words in his life, and these translations were concentrated in the first half of the 1930 s,which is,1930 to 1935 and from 1946 to 1949.In this time of year, whether such a large number of translation activities will have an impact on his creation of the same period is a question which is worth considering. This paper has done some data analysis on the works of Lao She in different time periods, including four aspects, namely, the average length of sentences, modifiers“ ”,“ ” changes in quantity, the changes of passive sentence’s number, and changes in the number of small words such as “(zai)”,“(you yu)”,“(dang)”,“(guan yu)”,“(dui yu)”.And these data would be analyzed in order to study whether the translation career of Lao She in the 1930 s has an impact on his own works, and which aspects will be affected. This paper mainly uses the research methods of documentary analysis, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis to study the influence of Lao She’s translation on his writing. In order to study the influence from the above four aspects accurately,a program was made. The problems encountered in the process of programming will be explained in Chapter 5.This thesis mainly studies the novels and prose created by Lao She.Poetry, drama, literary theory, etc.are not included in the scope of study. The first five thousand words of each article were sampled for research and data analysis. The total number of words in my study is about 150,000 words.Through periodical research and data analysis,it can be clearly concluded that Lao She’s translation activities had a considerable impact on his writing, and the impact on the four aspects was also different.
