Commonly, E following a verb in an initiative sentence indicates an act being.going on or a state being lasting. % sentence always connects with time, and has anarrative function. On the other hand, tk sentence is commonly taken as a narrativesentence, opposing to initiative sentence.But is it so, as E follows a verb in a )& sentence? What the grammaticalmeaning and function of # is in )& sentence?By analyzing every kinds of )& sentences with # following their verbs, thispaPer demonstrates # in )k sentence showing a kind of state resulted from an actor a lasting posture. Most of these sefltences are of descriptive function, a few are notbelong to passive sentences but initiative ones of narrative function.
