The current translation studies pay little attention to the translation of children's literature from Russian into Chinese and English. This thesis makes a comparative study of the English and Chinese translations of "Ruslan and Ludmila",a narrative fairy-tale poem in Russian written by Aleksandr Pushkin.English language is well known as a worldwide language. It is an official language in 58 countries. Most of the movies and literature are made in English.Meanwhile,Chinese language considered one of the most important languages in the world. In recent years translating from and into Chinese language becoming increasingly popular. The study of the translation of Aleksandr Pushkin's works nowadays forms an important part in translation studies related to Russian literature. Many scholars in China and English speaking countries have made an analysis of the translations in their languages respectively.Nevertheless, only a few researchers have studied the translations of the poems from the perspective of children's literature and none of them have compared Chinese and English versions of this poem. The focus of this study was to explore the differences in the translations of English and Chinese languages in terms of translation strategies and models, language style and grammar,as well as culture and history.I hope that the results of this study will tend to give new insights in understanding two different cultures. As well as contribute to deepening the understanding of the translation activities related to the Russian masterpiece and the translation of children's literature as a whole.
