With the rapid development of science and technology in the world, medicine is one of the most rapidly developing disciplines.Along with the continuous internationalization of medicine,a good mastery of medical English plays a vital role in keeping abreast of the latest international developments and communicating with the world. In the meantime, medical translation has also contributed to the development of medicine.Nowadays, women often face discrimination when they seek medical treatment, and doctors often underestimate the condition. However, few studies have been conducted on this issue of female discrimination. In order to prevent this situation from becoming more intense, research on the topic of medical gender discrimination is urgent. The source text of this translation practice is selected from Doing Harm: The Truth about How Bad Medicine and Lazy Science Leave Women Dismissed,Misdiagnosed, and Sick.In this book,by combining with the research methods of natural sciences and social sciences, through in-depth investigations and interviews with many doctors, researchers and many women in various countries, the author gives a comprehensive and thorough introduction to the potential gender discrimination in the existing health care system and the harm to women. The translator translates the third and fourth chapters.Based on the completion of the translation project, the translator studies the problems encountered in the translation process. In this original text,it is found that there are many medical terminology and proper nouns at the vocabulary level.Sentence level mainly involves the phenomena of long and difficult sentences, and the frequent occurrence of passive sentences. At the discourse level, there is anaphora and omission.By solving the following problems such as word sense selection, word meaning extension,part-of-speech conversion, long and difficult sentences, passive voice, anaphora, and omission, the translator aims to improve translation skills and better guide future translation practice.Through the translation practice, the translator believes that only a large amount of medical knowledge and proficient use of both Chinese and English languages can help us understand and express the original text well.Hopefully, this translation practice report can provide some references for other translators in the translation of medical English text.
