Work and leadership have become a highly concerned issue in today's society as the economic strength of China is increasingly developing.People in all walks of life are faced with various pressure and choices, among which the building of leadership requires more scientific analysis and interpretation. This translation practice selects the forth and fifth sections from the first part of the best-selling book Dare to Lead: Brave Work.Tough Conversations.Whole Hearts. The book, written by Dr.Brené Brown,a famous American professor of social work studies, features a research monograph on workplace psychology.Based on her own experience and other cases, the author tries to guide the public how to positively deal with problems in work and life and become a brave leader by building up courage.According to Newmark's translation theory, this kind of text mainly belongs to the informative text type.Since the related research and translation of psychology texts by domestic scholars still need to be enhanced, analysis on the combination of translation theory and practice of those texts deserves more attention.Under the guidance of Newmark's theory, this translation practice mainly employs communicative translation and semantic translation as a supplement and the report is presented from pre-translation,while-translation,and post-translation.The translator prepares the source text, parallel text and translation tools and makes a translation schedule plan in pre-translation stage. In while-translation stage, the translator analyzes and overcome various difficulties during translation from lexical level, syntax level and textual level. In post-translation stage, the translator makes self-revision,peer revision and further proofreading. In addition, the translator also analyzes the limitations of this translation practice and puts forward some suggestions.Combined with Newmark's translation theory, this thesis enables the translator to acquire a further comprehension, reflection and perception of translation, aiming to provide reference for translation of similar text type in the future.
