Smetana' Quartet <From My Life>

Smetana,known as the Father of Czech Music,has created many musical works praised by future generations.His one and only string quartet < From my Life > is an excellent work with high degree of generality and personal style.Therefore,this work has a high research value.This master thesis consists of three parts.The first part expounds the context in which Smetana created this work.In the first section,I mainly introduce the political and social situation of the Czech Republic before 1620.In the second section,I analyze the Czech National Revival Movement,including the Czech language,literature,the struggle of all strata of the Czech Republic in the1848-1849 Revolution,and the debate between Smetana and Pivada.The second part is the text analysis of the four movements of this work.According to the movement,I divide this work into four sections,each of which explains the details of the text,musical form and musical materials created by Smetana.I try my best to approach,restore and show the mood and emotional development of him to objectively show the whole picture from a micro point of view.The third part discusses the style of this work.In the first section,I mainly analyze the autobiography of the works,including the composer's use of four musical instruments and the understanding of the form.The second section,I try to explain the title of the work,mainly from the establishment of music image and the integrity of the work.In the third section,I summarize the nationality of the work,the content of which is the use of national elements externally and the embodiment of redemption emotion internal in this music.
