Jean Bessière is one of the most important literary theorists in the world. Most of his academic works have been translated and introduced to China. However, the domestic academic circles are relatively weak in their views and acceptance of his research of literary theory. Therefore,it is necessary to make further analysis and Research on Bessière's literary theory in order to promote its research in China. The article is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is a retrospective analysis and overview of Jean Bessière's literary theory research.Jean Bessière's research of literary theory mainly has three theoretical resources: one is the problematic rhetoric of Michel Meyer,a Belgian philosopher, whose problematic philosophy and problematic rhetoric constitute the basic guiding ideology of Bessière's literary theory research;the other is German sociologist Nicolas Luhmann's social system theory, whose thoughts on social system inspired Bessière's construction of the theory of literary works;the third is French structuralism and deconstruction,This heritage in the history of literary theory was inherited and further developed by Bessière.The second chapter mainly discusses Jean Bessière's early literary theory research, which mainly deals with the problem of "literary expression" in the history of poetics.Jean Bessière thinks that the issue of "literary expression" is the basic issue of literary research, and further links this issue with the symbolization of society. He respectively explains the issue of "literary expression" in the History of Poetics,Language Philosophy and Semantics. The third chapter mainly discusses Jean Bessière's theory of literary "plausibility",which is his preliminary exploration of western literary theory from the perspective of Michel Meyer's problematic rhetoric. In its theory of plausibility, literature has two basic characteristics, one is plausibility, the other is appropriateness. These two characteristics are actually two sides in one, both of which are a new description ofliterary expression from the perspective of problematic rhetoric. The fourth chapter is Jean Bessière's theory of Literary Work, which comes from Jean Bessière's summary and reflection of western literary theory. In Jean Bessière's view, the bottleneck of western literary theory lies in the "abandonment" of literary works.Jean Bessière proposed the importance of literary works, and discussed "Literary Work" with Niklas Luhmann's social system theory, which is regarded as a kind of "poiesis" and "presentation" in the sense of phenomenology, while using Michel Meyer's problematic rhetoric regards Literary Work as a "problematic field",which is ultimately composed of quantity and presentation. As far as the reading of works is concerned,it finally shows a consciousness, thus connecting the author and the reader. Thus a systematic view of literature has been formed. At last, the conclusion of the thesis discusses the positive significance of Bessière's theoretical research to the contemporary literary theory and its shortcomings. The former mainly talks about the crisis of literary theory, literary reading and the validity of science fiction in the new era, while the latter needs to point out the neglect of its theory to the aesthetic value of literature.
