Inconsistency In Large Book Series Translation Projects And Corresponding Strategies

As the development of modern translation industry advances and the needs for translation keep growing,lone-wolf translators are increasingly being replaced by professional translation teams.However,inconsistency in translated texts is a serious problem facing teams working on big projects and eventually will result in inefficiency and poor quality of translated texts.This paper will introduce consistency in translation projects and the common strategies adopted to ensure it in big cooperated projects;and a case study on Helen Exley Gift Books will introduce the inconsistency occurred during the process when a team of translators,including the author herself,were trying to translate the books in line with the client's request;finally,the strategies employed by those translators to overcome the inconsistency will be analyzed,namely the on-line management of notes,CAT pre-translation text management and close discussion among translators.
