This paper takes Shanghai urban culture and Hong Kong urban culture in the adaptation of Yishu's novels,movies and TV plays as the research objects.Yishu's novel works began to be published in the 1960 s.The fresh and unique style of his works has been welcomed by many readers in Hong Kong,and it has quickly begun to circulate in Hong Kong literary circles.Her collection of essays and novels has been published over 200,of which 165 are novel works.Her works have created a miracle in the literary world of Hong Kong with a unique perspective and sharp words.Since 1979,Yishu's novels have been adapted into film and television works one after another,and have been sought after by many urban youth.Hong Kong and Shanghai are the main places where the stories in the works take place.There are similar historical backgrounds and modern urban development patterns between the two cities.The urban image presented in the works is characterized by rapid economic development and fast pace of life.In this rhythm of modern urban development,with the development of economy and the change of life style,new changes have taken place in urban culture,with the rise of civic culture,the emergence of various cultural trends,the rise of women's social status,and the emergence of different characteristics in people's ideological values and behavior.While presenting this urban culture,film and television works also participated in the construction of this urban image,which reflects the spiritual appeal of an era.This paper mainly studies the urban culture in Yishu's novels,eight movies and one TV play adapted from Yishu's novels.Chapter one mainly introduces the creation of Yishu's novels,and analyses the characteristics of commercial city and desire city in the novel.Chapter two summarizes and analyses the urban culture of Hong Kong in the adaptation of Yishu's novels and movies from the aspects of "old Shanghai" elements,local development and modernity.Chapter three mainly investigates the development of urban culture in Shanghai based on TV dramas adapted from novel works.The modern significance of Shanghai's urban culture is embodied through the analysis of the setting of characters and thesignificance of architectural space in the play.In a word,this paper explores how Yishu's novel adaptation and its adapted works participated in the construction of urban culture in Shanghai and Hong Kong through the analysis of urban culture in Yishu's film and television adaptation works,with a view to deepening the understanding of Yishu's adapted film and television works.
