Research On The Chinese Poetry Written By Vietnamese Envoy Wu Huijin

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,There was a close relationship between China and Vietnam.As a vassal state of China,Vietnam regularly sent envoys to China and ended up with a special envoy literature about China.Unlike Yanxing literature in Choson,which is mostly in the form of notes,the envoy literature in Vietnam is generally poetry written in Chinese.These literary works show not only the ambassador's Chinese language level,but also the profound influence Chinese culture had on Vietnamese literature.What's more,they provide the image of China from another perspective,and serve as the literature on cultural communication between China and neighboring Asian countries.Wu huijin(??VfiHuyTgn or V?Huy T(?)n,1749-?),with his pseudonym as Zizhao,the emissary of Vietnam during the NhàTay S?n period,was sent on a diplomatic mission of Qing Dynasty twice,in the 54th(1789)and 55th year(1790)of the Qianlong region period.During the mission,he wrote Chinese poetry collections Hua Yuan Sui Bu Ji and Hua Cheng Hou Ji.In addition,some of the poems from the collection Yan Tai Qiu Yong,whose authors were marked as Wu Huijin,Wu Shiren and Pan huiyi,are the same as the ones from Hua Cheng Hou Ji.This paper,based on the Hua Yuan Sui Bu Ji and Hua Cheng Hou Ji,and the preface of Yan Tai Qiu Yong,aims at researching the following three aspects shown in Wu Huijin's poems: the origin of Chinese classical poetry,the image of China,and the communication of poetry among China,Vietnam and Choson.Wu Huijin's poetry written during his mission were mainly about describing the scenes and expressing his feelings.Through the description from the Vietnamese emissary's view,the natural landscapes,historical monuments,and palaces were vividly portrayed,which showed the image of China in another vision.Besides,it is easy to find traces of imitating Chinese metrical poems in Wu Huijin's Chinese poetry.The author traces the origins from the aspects of rhyme,imagery and aesthetic taste,and explores his study of Chinese classical poetry.A considerable part of Wu Huijin's poems were write-reply poems.The object of these poems included not only the officials and scholars of the Qing court,but also the Chosonenvoys who came to China for tribute.These poetry not only supplemented the local literary materials,but also enriched the literary contacts and diplomatic historical materials of the East Asian envoys,and became an important part of the study of the cultural exchange history among China,Vietnam and Choson.
