Note-taking is necessary for consecutive interpreting.Effective notes could help trigger the short-term memory of interpreters and in turn improve interpreters' performance. However, notes will be of no benefit if they are taken ineffectively.Improper notes will add to extra burdens and result in inaccuracy and disfluency. Therefore, mistakes in note-taking deserve special attention of interpreters. This thesis is a case study based on the mock conference of the Debate between ZHANG Weiying and LIN Yifu on Industry Policies. The author classifies the note-taking mistakes into three categories, including mistakes in logic layouts,in recorded content and in symbols, and conducts detailed analysis of each example on negative impact and possible reasons. Then, the author puts forward four solutions, together with practical training methods,to tackle the problem, including clarifying logic layouts, improving listening comprehension ability, specifying the symbols and making more preparations in advance.
