This year marks the 70 th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 74 th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War.History shall not be forgotten and peace shall be cherished. The prosperity and strength come at the sacrifice of countless revolutionaries and predecessors. In this context, the translator selects the first section of the third chapter of Qi’s Family Against Japanese Aggressors,a book by the famous writer Dai Yugang as the translation task.Qi’s Family Against Japanese Aggressors is a documentary literature about Qi Xin – wife of the veteran proletarian revolutionary Xi Zhongxun – and her family fighting Japanese invaders in southeast Shanxi province. The source text is a typical informative text with large amount of information and flexible Chinese sentence patterns. In this report, the translator focuses the translation of subject and non-subject in sentences.Mr.Liu Miqing put forward in his book "Chinese-English Contrastive Studies and Translation" that "three main methods can be adopted in Chinese-English translation: correspondence, conversion and complementation".It provides a concrete method for the selection of English subject. These principles and methods put forward by scholars undoubtedly play a guiding role in theory. In the aspect of sentence with subject.the subject of source text is flexible.sometimes, many elements coexist in the sentence, which can act as the subject. But in the course of translation,it is necessary to select an appropriate subject. Therefore, translators use correspondence and conversion strategies to complete the translation from Chinese to English. In the aspect of non-subject sentence, there are some non-subject sentences exist in the source text, but in English sentences,in addition to imperative sentence, there must be a subject in English sentence. Therefore, the translator uses the complementation strategy to complete the translation from Chinese into English. Finally, after translating this historical text of resistance war,the translator understand more about the selection of subject, and summarizes the corresponding translation solutions and translation experience.Howerever, due to the lack of related literatures and parallel text, deficiencies in the application of theories, there are still some shortcomings in the translation. The translator hopes to make contributions in this aspect and provide the reference of researchers for those who study similar texts.
