The sub-soprano is a special part in the division of female voices. Its origin, establishment and development are all carried out in Europe. The biggest feature of this part is its range. Its range is a special part sandwiched between soprano and mezzo-soprano,which means that it is broader in range than mezzo-soprano,but it does not have the extensibility of soprano in soprano. These two sub-soprano works were---" I Hear a Wire of Songs Rising ",performed by heroine Rossina from the opera《Seville Barber》and----"No More Sadness by the Fireside",performed by heroine Cinderella from the opera 《Cinderella》.Both of these works are written by the Italian composer Gioachino Antonio Rossini and are one of his most popular and representative works. The two works are very consistent with the sub-soprano’s vocal range in terms of the range span. They give full play to the characteristics of the sub-soprano’s voice and vocal range, but also has a certain difficulty in singing. The use of gorgeous coloratura and fast breath in the work is also difficult for the sub-soprano voice itself in terms of singing skills. In the introduction and the second chapter, the paper introduces the reasons for the topic selection and the research status, and summarizes the purpose and significance of this research. This paper mainly introduces the composer Rossini’s life and the reason and course of composing music for the sub-soprano voice,as well as the characteristics of sub-soprano in voice, body and structural. This essay starts with the music structure and singing of the sub-soprano aria of " I Hear a Wire of Songs Rising " and " No More Sadness by the Fireside ",discuss and summarize through a large number of books, online learning and singing videos of singers. In the third and fourth chapters of this paper,we mainly introduces and analyzes the musical form, harmonic structure, rhythm speed, melodic line progression and piano accompaniment of these two sub-soprano works, and makes a comprehensive interpretation and in-depth study of the works,so as to have a deep understanding of the sub-soprano voice. In the last chapter, the paper analyzes and explores the singing performances of the Italian singer Bartoli and the American female singer DiDonato.Through the experience of singers’ singing practice,we have a further understanding and cognition of the singing and performance of the sub-soprano voice. These two works are also difficult to perform, and are often one of the alternative works for the international opera stage competition.Singing and performing the song requires a strong vocal art background in breath and sound control,so as to bring the musical lines and high-skilled voice leap and sound extension of the two works to the utmost.Second,we need to make some research and understanding of the lyrics and the development of the story,Secondly,it is necessary to explore and understand the lyrics and plot development of the works,so as to integrate singing skills and emotional expression, and improve the perfection of the performance of the work. These two opera excerpts of Rossini have their own special music style characteristics, including the dramatic development of music, the nationality of the era and the artistry of opera development.Studying these two works is not only helpful to the study and extension of the sub-soprano voice, but also helpful to understand how Rossini grasped the style and characteristics of the works. It is of certain practical significance to the development of vocal singing career in our country.
