Zheng Wuchang,a modern painter and theoretician,is a key figure in promoting the transformation of Chinese traditional painting studies into modern art history.Based on a large number of aesthetic articles by Zheng Wuchang,this paper analyzes the source of Zheng Wuchang’s paintings,that is,Zheng Wuchang’s painting thought is influenced by the "rationality" in the Song and Yuan painting theory,and the modern Chinese society he is in the process of transformation is also the formation of his paintings has had an impact.This article focuses on the change process of Zheng Wuchang’s painting thought from Zheng Wuchang’s article.In the turbulent and chaotic Chinese modern painting circle,the Chinese and Western painting concepts collided with each other.Zheng Wuchang chose to guard the traditional art in a weak position with conscious,targeted and selective methods,but Zheng Wuchang is not a stubborn conservative.His "guardian" is not blind.Guardian,while adhering to the spirit of Chinese painting,he does not refuse to absorb foreign excellent culture,but seeks the extension and development of Chinese painting in the guardianship,and draws on the research methods of Western new historiography to transform Chinese traditional painting into modern art history.Has a driving role.
