Li Hanxiang is a great person in the history of Chinese-language films.He had risen and fallen several times in his life,traveling among the mainland,Hong Kong and Taiwan.His works have exceeded 100,which have had an important impact on the creation of Chinese-language films.However,there is currently no systematic study of his film career in the academic field.Therefore,under the perspective of Chinese film,this paper attempts to conduct a combing and study on director Li Hanxiang.This article tries to divide Li Hanxiang's film career into four periods.In the pre-Hong Kong period(1948-1963),Li Hanxiang went to Hong Kong and opened the glory of Huangmei opera film.The traditional opera,the gender reflection and the thoughts of the homeland are all evident.At the same time,he is good at using images to create a mainland imagination in the Hong Kong film factory;During the period of Taiwan National League Film Company(1963-1971),Li Hanxiang turned his focus to Taiwan and brought pioneering contributions to the development of Taiwan's film industry in terms of production mode,type creation and talent cultivation;In the post-Hong Kong period(1971-1982),Li Hanxiang returned to Hong Kong.He led the creation of Fengyue film with cynicism in the contest of art and commerce.During the period of co-production in the Mainland(1982-1996),Li Hanxiang shuttled back and forth among the Mainland,Hong Kong and Taiwan.And leaded the wave of co-productions as the first non-leftist filmmaker.Li Hanxiang's concern about the hometown is reflected in the image of China.This is the nostalgia for the hometown and also the expression of Great China Complex's national consciousness.In the hesitation and choice between the history and reality,the small family and big country,the business and art,Li Hanxiang's work style was changing,and the image style was changing,but the persistence and imagination of Chinese culture and historical tradition were unchanged.Throughout the perspective of Li Hanxiang's 50-year career in the sea of film,he became a complex political entity and cultural entity under the turbulent context of the three places.It is the director's history of growth and creation crossing the wind and snow that is criticized by people,He has been gone for more than twenty years.Fortunately,the work is still there,and the light of the image is always buried in the years.Li Hanxiang's creative essence is that combining the traditional elements of Chinese culture,the commercial direction of the market,and the appreciation of the audience making film become a "cultural binder" between the three,and become the "imaginary community" between the three sides of the strait.He seized the opportunity of the times,broke regional ambiguity and cultural barriers,adopted a relatively balanced cultural attitude.For one thing,he can be recognized by the government and the mainstream market with personal talent and discouragement.For another,he could use the resources and popularity accumulated by the works to maximize their creative appeals.
