The National Imagination In Lu Xun’s Literature

Based on the context of China’s history, after referring to the local tradition and the alien tradition, Lu Xun built the national imagination of China from the aspect of culture.Today only a few people choose the way of reading in details to extract Lu Xun’s imagination about China by his words, and study them in order of past, today and future.This paper has three parts: ‘The imagination about Old China’, ‘Who am I: Today’s China’ and ‘the imagination about future’. In the first part I will find out the root of culture behind the survival way of old Chinese via deconstructing the virtual environment and personality in old China. In the second part on the basis of the question ‘Who am I’, I will find out China’s position in the world and explain the silence status of the whole nation under the unnamed environment. In the third part I will find out the survival way of our nation through imaging the future. In the early days, we image the future based on ‘people and nation’ and ‘people’s awareness’, by contrast, in the maturity, we image the future via criticizing the past and today. In my point of view, Lu Xun has the same idea about past,today and future. He denied old China’s image, criticized today but also cherished today,the only reason is that Lu Xun wanted to find out the best way for China’s development and remodel people’s culture psychology, then making China immortal in the rapidly changing global civilization.
