Research Of The Polysyllabic Words In Lien�zhuan

LieN�Zhuan was written in the period of Emperor Chengdi of Han Dynas ty.The whole book describes the female celebrities of past dynasties in a coll oquial language.It expresses the political wishes of the Confucian scholars rep resented by Liu Xiang who wish the monarch to be �close to the virtuous mi nisters and far from the villains.� The study of Chinese vocabulary is a very i mportant part in the research of Chinese history.We take the polysyllabic wor ds in LieN�Zhuan as the research object,and build a closed corpus for the po lysyllabic words in LieN�Zhuan with the help of Microsoft Office Access.We interpret the collected corpus through horizontal synchronic description and ve rtical comparison,so as to objectively and comprehensively display the vocabul ary features of LieN�Zhuan.The thesis includes five parts.The exordium briefly introduces the current research situation,edition circulation and the reasons for selecting the topics and determines the criteria for determining the polysyllabic words in LieN�Zhu an and the research methods of this thesis.The second part to the fourth part is the main body of the article.From the perspective of word-formation,first we divide the polysyllabic words in LieN�Zhuan into two categories: phonetic word-formation and grammatical word-formation.Starting from the second par t,the lexical system in LieN�Zhuan is formally analyzed,focusing on the poly syllabic words constructed by Phonetic Word-formation.The third part mainly discuss the polysyllabic words constructed by grammatical word-formation.This kind of polysyllabic words can be divided into eight sub-categories: joint type,partial formal type,verb-object type,subject-predicate type,Predicate-complem ent type,additional type,overlapping type and other polysyllabic words.We m ainly make static analysis on the acceptation,part of speech and word order o f polysyllabic words.The fourth part uses dictionaries and corpus such as Han YuDaCiDian,CiYuan and the HanYuDaZiDian to analyze the new words and meanings in the LieN�Zhuan and to show the development and changes of the Chinese vocabulary system.The fifth part explains the lexicalization of somepolysyllabic combinations in Biographies of LieN�Zhuan.The lexicalization has a gradual change.It is helpful to study the lexicalization of polysyllabic struc ture and grasp its evolution law.The last part is a summary of the whole pap er,which sum up the general features of the vocabulary in LieN�Zhuan and s ummarizes the linguistic phenomena in it.Under the guidance of descriptive linguistics,historical comparative linguis tics,cognitive linguistics and lexicalization theory and combined with the relev ant research results of predecessors,we makes an exhaustive analysis of the p olysyllabic words in LieN�Zhuan to excavate the causes of the phenomenon,d emonstrates the lexical system of LieN�Zhuan and testify its corpus value.More over we we give examples of the words in the HanYuDaCiDian which are los t or whose documentary evidence is later than the biography of LieN�Zhuan t o provide reference for the revision of the use cases in the HanYuDaCiDian.
